In many organizations, network documentation is either non-existent or drastically outdated. Documentation is a key element in resolving problems quickly. When problems arise, time can be wasted trying to piece together the current situation because of lack of network documentation.
Chaney Systems provides and maintains network documentation for its clients and makes the documentation available to our clients onsite and online.
Our documentation process is thorough and a small sample of what it encompasses is listed below:
Network Documentation - Topology diagrams, wiring diagrams for routers and switches, configurations and parameter settings, IP addresses and server rack layouts. Policies – Internet and email codes of conduct and AUPs, instant messaging, password requirements. Procedures - Data backup and restoration, disaster recovery, user ID administration. Business Applications - Database design, data table structures, system reports. User Documentation – User and training manuals and guidelines. Licensing – Audit of software and license being used. Server and Desktop Documentation - System configurations, parameter settings, software license being used, and hardware configurations.
